Council House Walk
A walk arranged by the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will take place at the gardens and estate of the South Hams District Council offices at 7 pm tonight.

Once the manor for Totnes Priory, Follaton and its gardens date back to the 17th Century. The stroll will be led by local archaeologist Robert Waterhouse who will trace the history of the gardens and help everyone 'read’ the historic gardens for themselves.

Participants are asked to meet outside the formal (old) entrance to Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes at 7 pm returning around 9 pm. The cost is £3 for adults and £1 for children.

The event is one of a series being organised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first AONB being established on the Quantock Hills.

Digital Walking Guide
Devon walker Aldo Carbonari has created a user friendly, interactive walking guide showing 10 classic routes on Dartmoor - and the whole thing is presented on a digital CD that is compatible with both PC and Mac. Called Dartmoor North, the walks are also be available to download to iPod video and mobile handsets.

Mr Carbonari, who has lived in Devon for six years, came up with the concept after spending many hours walking on Dartmoor in all weathers "struggling with a dripping and sodden guide book".

"The guide operates like a digital book with easy to use interactive access," says the blurb. "The walks are shown on screen, with step by step instructions and illustrated with over 700 colour images of stunning scenery and local landmarks, together with 360 degree panoramic views. Navigational arrows point the way to destinations and other contents include useful information on local pubs, hotels, restaurants, shopping, camp sites and visitor centres."

The CD is available for £15.00 plus £1.50 postage and packaging from Parallax Interactive Guides
