The West Country Walks site will find itself in unaccustomed territory tomorrow morning. Martin will be pacing around the interior of an office rather than marching in open air.

Martin has been invited to officially open the South West Coast Path Association's (SWCPA) new offices at Bowker House, Lee Mill Bridge, Ivybridge.

For many years the SWCPA has been based at the South Devon home of its well known secretary, Eric Wallis, but its continued growth has meant that one day the HQ would one day have to move into dedicated offices. "It has been a relief to regain part of my home," says Eric. "To remove boxes and books and leaflets relieves space in my garage and in the next door neighbour's barn.

"I can now get my car in my garage," he laughs. "This move has been needed for several years - the association, which has just under 4,500 members, has been growing so quickly and as a result all the administration, storage and IT equipment has increased."

During its 33 years the association has operated from various domestic locations, but recently ideal office premises were found close to the A38 at Lee Mill Bridge.

Part of the funding for the move came from a successful application to the Lottery's Awards for All. The SWCPA was awarded £3118 for new furniture, communications equipment and computer equipment.

The association can still be contacted on 01752 896237, emailed on: info@swcp.org.uk, or written to at:
